Zenith Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Mr Henry Oroh and Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar as executive director and an independent non executive director of the bank respectively.
In a letter sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today 23 August 2019 signed by the bank’s company secretary, Michael Osilama Otu Esq. It was noted that the appointment of Henry Oroh as an Executive Director is consistent with the bank’s tradition and succession strategy of grooming leadership from within.
The two appointments have been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and take effect from September 1, 2019.
Mr. Henry Oroh FCA, MBA BSc Accounting, holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Benin and an MBA from the Lagos State University as well as LLB degree from the University of London. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
Henry has over two decades of Banking experience that began in 1992 with Citibank where he worked for seven years in Operations, Treasury and Marketing. He joined Zenith Bank in 1999 and has worked in various department in the groups office.
He was seconded to Zenith Bank Ghana in 2012 as an Executive Director and became the Managing Director in 2016 where he spearheaded the growth of the bank brand withing Ghana and West African region.
Henry has attended several leadership programs in top leadership and business schools in US and UK and also at the Lagos Business School. He brings to the board of the bank strong competencies in Credit and marketing, Operations, Information technology and Treasury.
Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar is currently the managing director of Apt pension managers limited. He is a graduate of Leads Polytechnic UK. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountant of Nigeria (FCA)
Dr. Abubakar has extensive experience in financial services industry, audit and consulting. He was with Akintola Williams Deloitte from 2000 to 2008 and rose to become the partner and board member of the west African sub region. He has also served as a board member of several financial institutions in Nigeria.
He has attended several leadership training programs and conferences within and outside Nigeria. He bring on board of the bank extensive experience in Risk Management, Credit and Marketing and Leadership skills.
