No matter our equal effort, either in our workplaces or schools, we still may not achieve equal progress. What brings about our individual progress is making use of our individual gift. Education is very important. However, it will have its limits in the fullness of time. Your diploma is not what will guarantee you being a diplomat (a celebrity). It is that little letter ‘T’ that makes the great difference and that is ‘TALENT.’
Imagine what this world will turn into if everyone discovers and uses their talent maximally. We will be awestruck at the results that will bring. My worry, most times, is not how many of us have not yet discovered our talent; it is how many of us don’t use what we have discovered or how we take it casually all because our jobs and present statuses have provided us a comfort zone. Worse still, how the majority who have not yet discovered theirs don’t even care. Sing it, shout it, sound it with a drum but their minds remain stiff on that.
Isn’t it so obvious and rather ironic that the most celebrated people in the world today are not those who have acquired emeritus professorate, but those who have maximized and are still maximizing their gifts? I’d rather go for the latter because times have changed; and it is wisdom to move with the changing times.
It still remains clear and true that “A man’s gift – not education or certificate – makes room for him and brings him before great men.”
