The All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 6.82% in quarter 3 of 2017 as against 2.29% growth in quarter 2, 2017. The market gained 2,262 basic points to close at 35,439 in Qtr 3 from 33,177 in Qtr 2, 2017.

Market capitalization on the floor of the Nigerian stock exchange also appreciated by 6.70% in Qtr 3 compared to 2.29% growth in Qtr 2. Market capitalization increased by N767billion to end the Qtr at N12.217 trillion from N11.45 trillion in Qtr 2, 2017.

The financial sector remains the most developed sector trading in the NSE as it continues to dominates activities in the NSE quarter on quarter. The sector remains most active in volume and number of deals. The financial sector also contributed the highest value to the NSE in Qtr 3, 2017.
The Financial Sector contributed over 80% of the volume of shares traded on the floor of the NSE in Qtr 3, 2017.
In the Exchange Traded Product of the NSE, a total of 3.022m units of products were exchanged in Qtr 3 compared to 41.26m units of products exchanged in Qtr 2, 2017 and the value in Qtr 3 is N34.70m in 113 deals compared to N199.96m value exchanged in 92 deals in Qtr 2, 2017.
In the Bond Market, a total of 71,330 units of Federal Government bonds at the value of N69.24m in 114 deal were traded in Qtr 3 compared to 64,098 units of valued at N106.5m in 288 deals traded in qtr 2, 2017.
