The market indices, All-Share Index (ASI) and Market Capitalization depreciated by 0.65% and 0.59% to close the week at 29,851 and N13,155 trillion respectively.
The ASI dipped by 196 points during the week moving from 30,047 points last week. While Market Capitalization lost N78 billion from N13.233 trillion as at the end of trading on 7th June 2019.
The week activities also saw the ASI year to date loss now at 387 points representing a 1 percent decline since week 1, 2019. Market Capitalization however grew by N1.917 trillion representing 15 percent growth from the beginning of the year till date.
The Volume of shares traded during the week when compared to the previous week increased by 6,607 million; Value of stocks traded also increased by N75.3 billion while the number of deals consummated increased also by 6,991 when compared to previous week trading figures.
The Financial Services Industry led the activity chart with 6,121 billion shares valued at N17.460 billion traded in 8,479 deals; thus contributing 82%, 19% and 49% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deals respectively. The NSE-Banking Index appreciated by 2.53%
The Oil & Gas Industry followed with 1.002 billion shares worth N65.058 billion in 2,019 deals. The third place was ICT Industry with a turnover of 115.320 million shares worth N3.387 billion in 866 deals.
Trading in the Top Three Equities namely, Wema Bank Plc, Forte Oil Plc and Zenith Bank Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 6.573 billion shares worth N77.492 billion in 2,895 deals, contributing 87.91% and 85.06% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and Wema Bank Plc are the 2 bank among the top 10 gainers this week. The Banks gained N1.50k and N0.05k to close at N9.85k and N0.62k respectively.
No Bank was in the top10 decliners at the NSE week ended 21 June 2019.
