NSE Report Weekly – At the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) week ended 16 August 2019. The All-Share Index and the Market Capitalization both depreciated yet again by 1.40% to close the week at 26,925 and N13,121 trillion respectively.
The ASI dropped 381 basic points during the week ended from 27,306 points the previous week. While Market Capitalization lost N186bn from N13,307 trillion as at the end of trading on 9 August 2019.
The week activities saw the All Share Index declines year-to-date at 3,313 basic points representing 11% decline since week 1, 2019. Market Capitalization has however grew by N1.685 trillion year-to-date representing 15 percent growth from the beginning of year 2019.
The volume of shares traded during the week when compared to the previous week reduced by 354 million; Value of stocks traded decreased by N1,555 million while the number of deals consummated also decreased by 3,330 deals when compared to previous week trading figures. The week was a 3 working day week result of Monday and Tuesday public holiday to mark the Muslim festival of Eid Fitri.
NSE Report Weekly- The Financial Services Industry led the activity chart again this week with 554.9 million shares valued at N6.49 billion traded in 8,376 deals; thus contributing 76%, 62% and 65% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deals respectively.
The Conglomerates Industry followed with 76.16 million shares worth N88.85 million in 621 deals. The third place was Consumer Goods Industry with a turnover of 29.78 million shares worth N754.92 million in 1,855 deals.
The NSE-Banking Index which closes the week at 304.69 from 308.23 the previous week, depreciated by 1.15%, 8.54%, 16.95%, 23.63% week, month, quarter and year to date respectively.
Trading in the Top Three Equities namely, GTBank Plc., Zenith Bank Plc. and Transnational Corporation Of Nigeria Plc. (measured by volume) accounted for 303,101 million shares worth N5,404 billion in 2,842 deals, contributing 42% and 52% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Unity, Union and Zenith Bank appeared in the top ten gainers this week with gains of 5k, 25k and 25k to close at 69k, N7.00k and N16.60k respectively. Ecobank and Stanbic IBTC are the 2 Banks that are on the top 10 decliners this week with loss of N1.25k and N5.10k to close at N6.00k and N33.00k respectively.
