The market indices at the Nigerian Stock Exchange: All-Share Index (ASI) and Market Capitalization depreciated by 2.32% and 2.30% to close the week at 29,271 and N12,902 trillion respectively.
The ASI dropped 696 basic points during the week from 29,967 points the previous week. While Market Capitalization lost N304 billion from N13,206 trillion as at the end of trading on 28 June 2019.
The week activities saw the ASI year-to-date loss now at 957 basic points representing 3 percent decline since week 1, 2019. Market Capitalization however grew by N1.470 trillion year-to-date representing 13 percent growth from the beginning of year 2019.
The Volume of shares traded during the week when compared to the previous week decreased by 566 million; Value of stocks traded also decreased by N18.1 billion while the number of deals consummated increased 715 deals when compared to previous week trading figures.
The Financial Services Industry led the activity chart as always again this week with 660.8 million shares valued at N5.74 billion traded in 11,296 deals; thus contributing 64%, 58% and 58% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deals respectively.
The Healthcare Industry followed with 95.150 million shares worth N61.699 million in 174 deals. The third place was Industrial Goods Industry with a turnover of 89.419 million shares worth N1.416 billion in 1,723 deals.
The NSE-Banking Index depreciated week-on-week by 5.44%, depreciated month-to-date by 5.44%. The Banking Index also depreciated by 5.44% quarter-to-date and also deprecated by 12.04% year-to-date.
Trading in the Top Three Equities namely, United Bank For Africa Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and FBN Holdings Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 297.889 million shares worth N3.095 billion in 3,998 deals, contributing 29% and 31% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Sterling Bank is the only Bank on the top 10 gainers list this week with a 10k gain closing at N2.30k from N2.20k with a growth of 4.6%. Also only Guarantee Trust Bank appeared in the top 10 decliners this week with a loss of N3.90k to close at N29.00k from N32.90k
