NSE Report Weekly – At the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) week ended 17 January 2020, the NSE All-Share Index and Market Capitalization both appreciated by 0.69% and 0.54% to close the week at 29,618.52 and N15.256 trillion respectively. The ASI increased by 203.13 basic points, while Market Capitalization gained N100 billion.
The NSE started the year on the gains and has recorded another gain in the 3rd week of the year. Last week’s gain was precipitated on the listing of 33.9 million shares of BUA Cement which saw the market gained over N2 trillion.
NSE-Banking market indices maintain gains this year thus far with a third week increase of 9.08 basic points to closed the week at 404.55 from 395.47 the previous week. The Banking Index appreciated by 2.30% week-on-week and 13.37% year-to-date.
A total turnover of 2.087 billion shares worth N26.470 billion in 24,262 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 2.683 billion shares valued at N32.646 billion that exchanged hands last week in 30,956 deals.

The Financial Services industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1.117 billion shares valued at N13.693 billion traded in 13,739 deals; thus contributing 54%, 52% and 57% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deal respectively.
The Healthcare industry followed with 521.893 million shares worth N182.965 million in 420 deals. The third place was Conglomerates industry, with a turnover of 123.606 million shares worth N573.907 million in 1,164 deals.
Trading in the Top Three Equities namely, Union Diagnostic & Clinical Services Plc, Access Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. (measured by volume) accounted for 877.992 million shares worth N8.399 billion in 5,251 deals, contributing 42%, 32% and 22% to the total equity turnover volume, value and deals respectively.
Guarantee Trust Bank and UBA are the two banks that appeared in the Top Ten Market Gainers list this week with gains of N1.55k and N0.40kkobo to close at N33.50k and N8.80k receptively. No Bank appeared on the Top Ten Decliners list this week just like the previous week. NSE Market indices maintain gains
