The Allen Avenue branch of a first generation bank in Lagos was temporarily shot down and all staff asked to self isolate in line with National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Covid-19 guidelines as one of the staff test positive to coronavirus early this week.
A staff of the bank who spoke to Nigerian Banker on condition of anonymity said the bank acted swiftly as the branch has been disinfected and new staff were brought in with protective kits to ensure that customers of the branch does not experience unnecessary hardship.
According to the bank staff, the affected male staff is currently under observation and treatment and they can only wish him quick recovery. He said the entire staff of the branch are currently in fear as the affected staff was very friendly and was even hugged by the manager a day before he was confirmed positive.
Meanwhile in another branch of same bank in Jos, Plateau State, where another staff text positive to the Covid -19 virus, the Branch has been temporarily close down. As fear reportedly gripped the entire banking hall when the news broke out on Wednesday afternoon.
The employees and top Management of the bank hurriedly close and they were referred to the Isolation Centre at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). Plateau State Commissioner of Health Nimkong Lar, who confirmed the sad development said contact tracing of the staff has commenced.
According to he commissioner, the Bank was closed down temporary and the premises fumigated to curb spread of the virus. He explained that the person infected has been moved to the isolation center and has started receiving treatment.
