The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released the first quarter 2020 Treasury Bills calender with indications that it plans to issue Treasury Bills of N847.42 billion between January to March 2020.
The brakedown of the details as published on the CBN website indicates that N75.6 billion worth of Treasury Bills will be available for 91 days while N141.0 billion will be available for 182 days and N630.8 billion will be available for 364 days.
“A Treasury bill (or T-Bill) is a short-term government debt security, which yields no interest. Rather, it is issued at a discount on the redemption price. Basically, the Federal Government issues treasury bills at discounted prices for maturity periods between 91 and 364 days”.
