Here is the analysis of the activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange in the 4th quarter of 2017
The All Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 2.05% in quarter 4 of 2017 as against 6.85% growth in quarter 3, 2017. The market gained 1,923 basic points to close at 38,243 in Qtr 4 from 35,439 in Qtr 3, 2017.

Market capitalization on the floor of the Nigerian stock exchange also appreciated by 2.09% in Qtr 4 compared to 6.70% growth in Qtr 3. Market capitalization increased by N1.107trillion to end the Qtr at N13.609 trillion from N676billion in Qtr 3, 2017.

The financial sector remains the most developed sector trading in the NSE as it dominates activities in the NSE quarter on quarter from the beginning of year 2017. The sector remains most active in volume and number of deals.
The financial sector contributed 32% Of the total value of stocks traded in the last quarter of year 2017.
The Financial Sector also contributes over 53% of the volume of shares traded on the floor of the NSE in Qtr 4 Of 2017.
The Financial Sector contributed over 57% of total deals on the floor of the NSE in Qtr 4 Of 2017. Just as it did in quarter 3.
In the Exchange Traded Product of the NSE, a total of 1.30m units of products were exchanged in Qtr 4 compared to 3.02m units of products exchanged in Qtr 3, 2017 and the value in Qtr 4 is N20.57 in 112 deals compared to N34.70m value exchanged in 113 deals in Qtr 3, 2017.
In the Bond Market, a total of 490,538 units of Federal Government bonds at the value of N79.96m in 146 deal were traded in Qtr 4 compared to 71,330 units, valued at N69.24m in 114 deals traded in qtr 3, 2017.
