1.Never Trust Your Brain
Never rely on your brain for everything. Form the habit of writing down ideas and thoughts that comes to your mind. Keep journals, record things, record conversations, take notes. Never trust your brain enough to remember everything be it personal or business ideas or thoughts make sure they are well documented. “The first step to achieving your goals is to write them down” Brian Tracy.
2.Never Start the day, week, month or year until you have finished it
“If you ask an engineer constructing a building when he have just started laying the foundation, what he is doing and he said he does not know yet. You might need to take him for a psychiatric examination because there must be a building plan before the foundation of a building is laid” Jim Rohne. The same goes for your day, week, month or year. You must have plans of what you want to do daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. A finished plan makes you achieve your objectives faster and much easier.
3.Never try to reinvent the wheel
You can gain years of experience in just a few hours of studies. No matter what venture you are trying to engage yourself in there is someone somewhere that must have done something similar to it before. Why not learn from such persons and understand their mistakes and achievements. This will save you from stumbling where they have stumbled and will propel you to your success quicker than them.
4.Learn from your mistakes
No matter how much learnings and studying you must have done. There are also learning point to pick from where you have stumbled along the way. Do not be hasty in doing over again without pondering on where you must have made mistakes and attempt to learn from them. Learning from mistakes make you look smarter and help get your jobs done quicker and progress faster.
Setting goals gives you the necessary energy to focus while doing your things. Goals are necessary propellers to success. Set goals and pick them one after another, you may have goals like reading one new books a month or visiting 2 countries in a year or meeting the president of the world bank or even providing food for the most number of poor people in a year for personal goals and being the biggest supplier of drinks, building materials in Nigeria and lots more for business goals. What ever goals you have set for yourself ensure it is written down and taken one step at a time.
6.Review frequently and amend when necessary.
Reflect and ensure you review progress on your plans and goals frequently. Along the line you may find some of your goals that may be obsolete for one reason or the other. Endeavor to replace them with more realistic goals but do not form the habit of changing your goals as this will invariably means you are abandoning your goal. Review and amend only when it is necessary.
